Recycling

The TPU material from which Tubolitos are made is 100% recyclable. With the Tubolito Recycling Program, we create an easy way to return used Tubolitos to us. Together with our customers and partners, we want to close the loop in this way. Used Tubolitos can be simply returned free of charge to participating recycling partners. The partners collect them and send them back to us. The program is currently available in Germany and Austria.

  1. Bring your used Tubo to a recycling partner
  2. We collect the Tubolitos in our HQ
  3. The recycled Tubos can be used to create tubes or other TPU products

From tpu to tpu

Collecting the tubes is the first major challenge. For recycling, we work together with partners. In the first step, they clean the material and remove foreign parts, such as the metal valve cores. The material obtained in this way can then be reprocessed into granules, which we can add to the production of new tubes. Of course, we make sure that the recycled material meets the same quality criteria as the original. The recovered granules can also be used for other TPU products (shoe soles, wheelbarrow tires, etc.).

I ride Tubolitos, what do I have to do?

Currently we offer our recycling program in Germany and Austria. You can simply drop off your old tubes at a recycling partner near you. In the Shop Finder you can find dealers who participate.

I am a dealer, what do I have to do?

If you are a dealer and want to become a recycling partner, please contact the distributor in your country, they will provide you with all the necessary information.

      FOOTPRINT

Tubolito’s carbon footprint is smaller compared to conventional (butyl) tubes. The decisive factors here are on the one hand the different raw material (TPU vs. rubber), but on the other hand also the same advantages that make Tubolito so special: Low weight and less material use fewer resources per tube while still providing a better riding experience. Since all of our manufacturing is done in Europe, less CO2 is released during production as well.

      Water usage

By using high-quality materials, Tubolitos could be produced with significantly less water consumption and CO2 emissions than tubes made of butyl or latex.

Compared to a latex tube, the production of a Tubolitos saves the amount of water of about 15 filled bathtubs.
