In Their Own Words: The Voices Behind Tubolito

Some brands talk about performance. Our products get tested — on podiums, on 65.000-meter climbs, in bike shops, and on the workbenches of the people who engineer with us. A decade in, we thought it was time to hand over the mic.

Here’s what the people who ride, sell, race, and build with Tubolito have to say.

On the trail and on the Clock

For athletes, the best gear is the gear you don’t have to think about.

Professional MTB athlete Gabriel Wibmer puts it simply:

“For me, orange means reliability. When I’m working on a project or a stunt, there are a hundred things on my mind. Tubolito has never been one of them. It just does its job, so I can focus on mine.”

That same reliability got put to an extreme test during Kai Saaler’s Project Severest — seven days, seven Everestings, roughly 65.000 meters of climbing. The 24h MTB World Champion doesn’t mince words about what got him through it:

“Some rides push the limits of endurance. Others push for something bigger. During Project Severest — 7 days, 7 Everestings, climbing about 65,000 meters — Tubolito kept rolling, climb after climb.”

And when the margins are measured in medals, not just miles, weight matters. Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Worthington knows exactly what a few grams can do:

“Marginal gains win medals. The super lightweight Tubolito shaves weight where it matters and rolls faster than the average tube.”

Trusted by the trade

Athletes push the limits. The people behind the counter are the ones who have to explain — every single day — why a product is worth recommending. That’s a different kind of pressure test.

Florian Binder, Managing Director of PBIKE, doesn’t hedge:

“We love everything that makes our customers and bikes faster and better: Tubolito tubes are among our absolute must-haves for every performance-oriented road or gravel rider. Whether it’s a new bike we’ve sold or a bike service at PBIKE — we at PBIKE are clearly Team Tubolito!”

Florian Pöllmann, Managing Director of Bike and Sports, has been along for the ride since almost the very beginning:

“When I first held a Tubolito in my hands in 2016, I immediately knew: this is real innovation. The passion, expertise, and conviction of Akos and Christian excited me just as much as the product itself. I believed in it from the very beginning — and I was right to.”

That same conviction extends to the world of exclusive, high-end builds. Mauro Mondonico, Head of Sales at Colnago, on the collaboration behind the limited-edition Fleur de Lys:

“For our limited-edition Fleur de Lys, partnering with Tubolito was a true success story — thanks to tubes specially developed for us and an exceptionally fast delivery time, we were able to perfectly combine ultimate performance with exclusivity.”

Built Together

Some of our best work happens off the road entirely — in engineering conversations with partners who care as much about the details as we do. Michael Grätz, Managing Director of Newmen, on developing the Streem Valve System together:

“The collaboration with Tubolito on the Streem Valve was excellent from start to finish. Their openness to new ideas and their obsession with getting every detail right matched our own approach perfectly — this is what happens when two engineering-driven companies speak the same language.”

Community on Two Wheels

Beyond the product, it’s the events and the people showing up for them that keep the gravel and road community moving. Petr Svoboda, organizer of the Tubolito Gravel Tour:

“Having Tubolito as our title sponsor means partnering with a brand that stands for innovation and performance, just like our race does. It gives the event real visibility and credibility within the gravel community.”

The Original

And then there are the people who were there before “TPU tube” was even a category most riders had heard of. Tiago Carrasco, Tubolito Brand Ambassador based in Mallorca:

“I live in Mallorca and got to watch, up close, as Tubolito went from insider tip to a brand everyone knows. Ten years ago, I was one of the first riders on TPU tubes, when Tubolito pioneered the category. Today there are many competitors — but everyone knows Tubolito is the original.”

From Olympic podiums to gravel finish lines, from workshop counters to engineering desks — this is the story behind our orange tubes. Not a slogan. A track record, told by the people who’ve lived it: 10 years of Tubolito.
